South of Varna a minor road leads to Kamchiya (The Longoza, Nature Reserve), where the river of the same name widens into a big lagoon before flowing into the sea. A small picturesque resort spreads along the wooded river banks. Kamchia resort is in the immediate vicinity of the Black Sea. The beaches are wide, covered with sand dunes. The climate is pleasant. The nearby 500 hectares of nature reserve, Longoza, is an area of marsh and forest with dense almost tropical undergrowth. Ancient trees with a variety of climbers interwoven amongst them form a canopy. This is a typical deltaic formation, which, in spring, is regularly flooded, inundating a huge area. Here there are pelicans, kingfishers and water birds of all kinds.

A cozy little town named Obzor, appropriate for family tourism, is situated at a point roughly midway between Varna and Bourgas from the hilly wooded terrain into a brief open coastal stretch. Despite the town's convenient location and six-kilometer long sandy beach (the largest between Golden Sands and Sunny Beach), this remarkably pleasant spot is surprisingly uncrowded even during peak season.

South of Obzor, the highway courses for 14 kilometers through open vineyards and the heavily wooded Balkan range to Cape Emine, which overlooks the Bay of Nessebar. Bulgaria's stormiest cape has a lighthouse and the ruins of a medieval fortress and monastery. Today, a deserted church is the only remaining structure. The nearby hamlet of Emona had a Thracian sanctuary and, later, a temple to Jupiter.

A holiday village named Elenite sheltered in a quiet bay, with a large beach and green meadows, for modern eco-style holidays, with plenty of sports and entertainment. It is situated about 10 kms from Sunny Beach resort and about 40 kms from Bourgas Airport.
St. Vlas is a newly built resort with modern family hotels. A coastal road leading east from Sunny Beach passes through Sveti Vlas. This is a local village with small family hotels, holiday villas and restaurants all over the town.

Sunny Beach is the biggest resort, with the longest and widest beach strip, with hotels spread along the beach and among the dunes, the sunniest resort for the sunniest tourists - children. This holiday address, destined by nature, lies only 35 km away north of the city of Bourgas. A wide semi-circular bay facing east an over 8 km long beach strip, 30-60 m wide fine golden sand, natural dunes, a clean and gently sloping sea no dangerous fish 1700 hours of sunshine from May trough September. Over 130 catering establishmnets: restaurants, taverns with folklore programmes, bars with floor shows, night clubs, casino, discotheques and cafes provide culinary pleasures and a good mood. Every conceivable opportunity for sports: surfing, water skis and parachutes, hang-gliding and banana, sailing, yachts, paddle boats, cutters, scooters, rowboats, tennis courts, beach volleyball, playing grounds, mini-golf, skittle alley, bowling, riding ground, fitness halls, sports tournaments for amateurs and professionals. A genuine children's paradise - plenty of fun and games, children's pool, slides, karting, Rolba water slide, inflatable trampoline, sport schools.

Located 34 kilometers south of Bourgas on a slender rocky peninsula, Sozopol is the oldest of Bulgaria's coastal towns. Today, this charming place is a popular tourist resort best known for its casual ambiance, two sandy beaches, and distinctive nineteenth-century stone and wood houses, some 45 of which are designated national cultural monuments. While Sozopol is a bustling place during July-August, in the off-season it reverts back to a sleepy fishing village and is a favored haunt of artists, writers and other contemplative types.
